Can I have a Quesadilla?
Oh my dear, the last 20 hours have been crazy! Well, other than the 8 hours that I spent sleeping!
I hope you all enjoyed your Friday night and are currently enjoying a nice Saturday. Last night at the restaurant was surprisingly not too busy! It got busy for about two hours but it wasn’t that bad at all. I got home at about midnight and promptly had a piece of toast with mixed berry jam and a peach!
This morning I was looking so forward to my run. I mapped out a 10.4 mile run on mapmyrun.com. I was pumped!
About two hours before running I snacked on this Trek Bar- Peanut & Oat flavour:
I also had a smoothie. Here are the goods that went in it.
In the mix:
- 1 cup Alpro soy milk
- 1/2 cup frozen mixed summer berries
- 1 small banana
- heaping handful of spinach
- 1 tbsp ground flax
Like I said, I was pumped for a good run. But, at about mile 4.5 I got a massive cramp in my side. Never ever have I felt pain like this! I was doubling over in pain and thought maybe I was giving birth. “Are these contractions I am having?” I thought. Then I remembered I am not 9 months pregnant, but wow- if that’s what giving birth is like……
Anyway, I tried to keep going but couldn’t make it. I tried to stretch, pray, I even tried to will it away. But no such luck, so I started walking home. Luckily I wasn’t too far and was just about at my loop point to carry on the final 4 miles. I was in tears because I felt my body let me down. If that ever happened on race day I’m not sure what I would do.
I ended up going 6.2 miles altogether (but walked the last .75 of a mile), and burned 553 calories.
After being home and thinking about it (with my water & a peach), I decided you know what? What the heck, it was a GREAT run. 6.2 miles is a great distance. Tomorrow, i’ll try again for 10
After showering and tidying up I made myself a lunch.
I had the last wrap to use up so I decided a quesadilla was on the menu.
For the base I used a bit of tomato paste and green pesto, and covered half with fresh spinach.
Then I sliced some tomato, fresh mushroom and avocado for some toppings.
I also grilled up 1 meatfree sausage to put in it. Here is it just before folding and going into the oven.
I put it under the grill in the oven for literally 2-3 minutes before flipping to the other side for a little more grilling action. Make sure you watch it because this baby can burn quick!
My lunch.
I had an apple with some cinnamon on the side.
It was SO good!!
Well, I’ve got to go! My future Mother-in-Law will be here soon to drop off my niece! I get to babysit for a few hours! Yippie!
If your curious to know who won the TREK BAR contest … feel free to stop by later! I’ll be announcing it in my next post! You still have a few hours to enter if you haven’t yet. Contest closes at 1PM EST!

Ahh hang in there with the running cramps and with the busyness!!
Lovely smoothie and lunch
6.2 Miles is a GREAT RUN!
You have the right attitude! “Dust yourself off and try again!”

Whenever I have a less than stellar run I try to remind myself of the same thing. Listening to your body today will only benefit you tomorrow!
6.2 miles is fantastic!
Your lunch looks amazing as well! Bet that filled you up.
Krista- darn right it did! I am stuffed!
That has happened to me before with the cramps…it usually happens to me when I eat before runs. That is why I usually have to run on an empty stomach…I hate it sometimes though. My stomach is so sensitive.
Your body didn’t let you down hun…it was simply some digestion going on, that is all.
What a fabulous lunch…I have yet to try veggie sausages. What are they like?
Ange- They are GREAT. The kind I buy (not Quorn, our local shops ‘own’ brand) has a real nice flavour & spice to them.
I had to eat something because I knew if I didn’t i’d never make it thru that run!!
That quesadilla looks yummy! Can’t wait to see who the winner is!
A quesadilla has cheese. Where is the cheese? What you had was a warmed up wrap. haha. Looked good though!
^ lol thanks Sis – the cheese we have wasn’t suitable for this – next time i’ll put cheese on it just for you
Nevermind, you still had a great run and burnt some mega calories. The quesadilla looks good, I’ll have to try that tomorrow (I’ve already had my wrap for today):)
Still such an awesome run! And you inspire me that you’re going at it again tomorrow.
I don’t know if it’s just my Sainsburys but they started carrying Trek bars and they are on sale for 79p!!
Lara- thanks for the tip!! I’ll have to go over and get some!
