I am seriously excited over here!
At the beginning of the week I was feeling some nerves, and some definite doubt on how my half is going to go but as the week has gone on I have seriously been getting butterflies every time I think about Saturday! I cannot wait for this experience, and that’s exactly what it is …. an experience that I will fully enjoy no matter how I do!!
Just to give you a sneak peak into what my food has looked like this week, I took these photos at work this morning. Sorry for all the tupperware – this is what it’s like when I take lunches to work!
Green monsters. I have had one of these for breakfast every single day this week.
Taken to work in this fab Rubbermaid container.
Don’t you just love the work behind the smoothie? Those are post cards from World War II that my students made. My students posed as children who had to be evacuated from their homes during the war and they were writing home to their families who they left behind. They are supposed to look old and ratty haha. They wrote them, and then we used tea bags to ‘dye’ the paper and burned the edges to give the old/worn look. Love them! Yes, I put all of their work on the walls- no matter what!
Snacks have looked like this…
That is hummus in the container at the bottom of the photo.
Here’s lunch! It’s not very pretty, but deal with it
It’s actually a lot bigger than it looks in the photo. That is tuna on top. Today was the first day I had tuna on my salad for some protein. The rest of the days i’ve been having chickpeas that I roasted on the weekend but they are all gone
I’ll have to make some more!! I love cutting the celery like that and eating it first, then digging into the salad. I’ve also drizzled some balsamic on the salad along with a blob of hummus too. Oh and there is avocado in there as well!
I’ve eaten more snacks than usual (and more that are photographed!)… mostly fruit & veg. I just crave tons of produce especially when it is so hot outside. I can’t help it!!
Does your appetite tend to change with the seasons??
I went to the gym with Steve’s Mom tonight. We had a great chat as usual on the bike! I did 10 miles and then did a quick 15 minute run on the treadmill.. nothing serious, just trying to keep my legs loose and moving
I think i’ll be doing some quick yoga tonight as well. Yoga is sooooo great for keeping the limbs moving without going overboard! I’m actually surprised at how well I am doing with keeping things to a minimum this week. I’m normally very all or nothing and hardly anything in-between so kudos to me I say!

Summer fun.
Now that summer is officially here I just love getting outside and doing other activities. One thing i’m really looking forward to doing once back in Canada (3 weeks!!) is rollerblading. I used to rollerblade a LOT.
Should I know who this is a photo of???
I don’t recall ever going out dressed so nicely while rollerblading.
But getting back to the point, I LOVE to rollerblade. I think it’s a great non-impact exercise. My brother and I used to go out everyday when we both lived at home. He would bike and I would rollerblade for a good 45 minutes. I loved it! It was a great cardio workout, easy on the joints (though- I wasn’t as into running back then) and fun too! I think it’s a great alternative to running & walking. I’ll be curious to use my hrm when rollerblading this summer to see how it compares to other activities. There is a great National Park about 20 minutes from my parents house that has 10k road around the park that many people use for biking, rollerblading, running etc- and I definitely hope to get out there in the midst of all the hoopla for the wedding!
Do you rollerblade? Tell me you do, and you love it right?
Yes, at one time I had roller skates too!!
Again, not me!
Surely i’m not the only one who finds this photo a little weird??? haha!
Enjoy the rest of your day!!

I’ve been having lots of Green Monsters for breakfast this week too, it’s the perfect meal when the weather is this hot. I’ve been eating a lot more fruit than usual too – I just crave it so much more when it’s hot and sunny outside. I haven’t had a cereal bar for a week, which must be some kind of record for me!
hahaha i totally thought that babe was you leah! that is classic.. i am sure there are many others where that came from. i love roller blading! and skateboarding and longboarding.. fun stuff. cute schoolwork done by your kids! you are such a great teacher, i am sure of it. good luck saturday if i dont comment you before then! xo
^Thank you!!
Why because the one little pervy kid is oogling the woman who is wearing a shirt that leaves nothing to the imagination??
I too used to rollerblade all the time. I was actually planning on dusting my rollerblades off here one of these weekends to go for a spin.
I hope you have a wonderful experience with your half!!
I read about the heat wave in the UK in the newspaper today! Craziness!!
Sadly, I have never rollerbladed in my life! Now that I’m 21, I’m too scared to try. It seems like it would be hard to keep your balance… Maybe I’ll give it a whirl someday. I do a LOT of biking though!
Me and rollerblading do not get along, which surprises everyone I know, since I’ve figure skated since I was 3! But I cannot get a hang of the balance on those things, and always end up on my face (well, usually knee actually). If the surface I was blading on was completely smooth, I’d be okay, but any little bumps/hills/uneven surface does me in. I’d much rather get on my bike.
I tried taking a GM to work one day – but by the time I drank it in was lukewarm and the flavors had separated, even after I shook it… just not up to par. What do you do to combat this?
It’s so fun to watch you prepare for the race! I know you’ll do great!
Hi Leah! I just wanted to tell you that I love it when you include stuff about your classroom. I’m a first year teacher and appreciate all the ideas, inspiration and words of wisdom I can get. Thanks!
Good Luck sis on your half marathon! I know I havn’t talked much this week with all the craziness. I want you to know I will be thinking of you and can’t wait to hear all about it! Eat, drink, and rest loads ok! I am so proud of you!
Love you bunches!
Yolanda
Good luck on Saturday!
LOL on those rollerblading photos. Those “WW2 postcards” are genius. You are one creative teacher!
I crave salads in the summer but in winter nope.. all I want is carbs!!
I learned to roller blade in PE when I was in 6th grade and haven’t done it since! haha

I love roller blading. Like love, love it.
Good luck for Saturday – I can’t wait to read your race report and see how it went.
My 12-week training programme starts next week and I’m still terrified. I just keep reminding myself how cool it’ll be to be able to say I ran a half-marathon!
