Love is…
I just want to say before I blog Thank you all so much!
Your birthday wishes were very much appreciated!
It’s crazy you know. I was thinking about it earlier this morning – while I don’t have thousands (or even hundreds!) of readers, I do have readers that I truly am thankful for. It’s so thoughtful that you take time of of your day to log on to this blog and leave me birthday wishes. I’ve never met any of you, and maybe never will… but I am floored that there are people out there who will leave such sweet messages, and even post on your blog a Happy Birthday wish. So thank YOU for that
It’s amazing to me that people who I’ve never even met before can be so sweet.
I don’t use the blog as a part time job.. don’t let the FoodBuzz logo fool you. I make like $5 per month *lol*… but I am realizing that this blog is giving me much more than what I thought when I first started it. First and foremost, it’s a way to keep in touch with my family and friends but it’s also turning into a way to document the most important times in my life…. and have fun with it!! I’ve made a lot of changes since starting the blog- and i’ve gone through tons of learning curves and have realized what I like and don’t like about blogging.. so it’s been a fun journey so far. Sometimes when I fall off the face of the earth for a few days, you can (almost) always guarantee i’ll be back… but I think most of you have noticed by now i’m not a three times a day blogger… and i’m ok with that! It used to be about gaining readership, when I first started.. but i’ve realized for me it’s more about the learning that goes into the blog and the growth of my own knowledge with health, fitness and LIFE

So…
on to other things!!
Today was my last day at work! I had to work until 12:30 and then my coworkers and I went out for a fun lunch for our Head Teachers 50th birthday. All of the staff actually surprised me with a wedding gift before we left today so that was so thoughtful. It will definitely help with some costs
Speaking of wedding… remember when I said that I was going to get my class to help me with a little project?
Well, I made these tags for our wedding favours:
I just love the way they turned out. My TA helped me with these so much! We made them, printed them, cut them out, laminated them, and then cut them out again. It took so long. I am so grateful for her help!
But, what’s even more fun is what is on the back of them. I discussed what my children what they thought Love was. They got all giggly at first because they thought I meant all hugs and kisses. Then I asked them to think about it for a day and the next day they would be writing down four definitions of what they thought love was.
The next day came and I told them to cover their pieces of paper so that none of their friends could see what they were writing. They found safety in this so that they didn’t have to be embarrassed! Once I got the pieces of paper I was completely shocked at how serious they took it! They turned out amazing!!
Have a look at some of them!
Can you believe it?!
“Love is Peaceful”
How simple, yet TRUE is that??
Here are a couple more.
The front of the tags:
The back (of just one – we made 120!):
I know i’m a teacher and I teach children everyday. I will be starting with a new class on September 3rd. But I have to tell you how much this group of children taught me about the simplicity of what life is. All of the tags came out quite different, which each child having their own view of what they though Love was. They are all so innocent and adorable! I hope the guests at the wedding get a little insight through a child’s eyes and maybe even get a little inspired!
Many people at work today asked me what I did for my birthday. They expected me to say that I went out and partied hard. While I do like to have a bit of fun (see Hen weekend), I also thought my birthday was spent doing the greatest things…
Like a bit of stretching & yoga with my niece…
Watching her pretend to be a future Bride to Be..
… and continuously want to try on her pretty dress for the wedding!
I also hung out with my hot husband-to- be
What could be better?
Keeping it simple can sometimes be the best of times!

Oh, how sweet. This brought tears to my eyes; it was so cute. You will really have some wonderful, unique wedding favors!
I love the tags!! They’re so cute!! My brother is getting married next Spring, I’ll have to show your ideas to my future sister in law

So beautiful!
Those tags are so sweet!
The tags came out fantastic, Leah! What a good idea…
What a great idea Leah! The kids messages just made my day!
I love your thoughts on the blog stuff. When I started out I felt a “keeping up w/ the Jones’” drive for readership and the need to post 3x day was daunting to me. As I relaxed about not getting any comments and ‘only’ having a handful of readers, I realized that I just didn’t really care! I wanted to blog as a creative outlet and like you, to record a bit of my life for posterity. I have loved it as a tool for reflection and a way to reach out and connect with people I may never have before the blog. So, its really nice to hear that I’m not alone in this feeling!
Oh my, I cannot BELIEVE what a creative and adorable idea that was for the tags. AHHH. I hate to use this expression, but they really were so cute I wanted to eat them. Haha, excuse the cheeseiness.
Your guests will LOVE them! Glad you had a fabulous birthday, Simply Fabulous!
WOW. those are the most adorable little cards. what a GREAT idea, they are all so unique and sincere, i am loving that idea!! so creative
This is my first time to your blog and it was such a beautiful post! I’m not a bit “kid” person, but there is so much you can learn from them that it’s amazing.
Those wedding favors/tags are unbelievable and a million times better than anything money could buy. And I guess it was your birthday…so Happy Late Birthday!
What a great class project – that’s so much fun and their answers are so thoughtful! Your niece is a doll! I love her rocking the bride to be sash
I absolutely love those tags! I think your guests will love them too!
Those “Love is…”cards are so adorable, I had tears in my eyes reading them! I can’t believe KIDS are the one who thought those up
I love reading your blog
I have learnt so much through yours and others, and like you’ve said, through writing my own.
Oh my gosh those labels are so sweet!!!! I wondered what you had up your sleeve. That is such a nice personal touch. You are such an awesome teacher.
I also think you are WAY too modest about the popularity of your blog…MANY people love your blog Leah, when are you going to realize this yourself?
I have to agree with you about keeping in touch with friends and family…it’s great for that forsure. My mom reads every one of my posts and many of my family members do to like my grammie! I was shocked to hear that! LOL
Enjoy the rest of your birthday week and dinner out Friday.
Those tags are just adorable! Genius.
I’m totally with you on the blogs… I never view it is a job or a chore. Instead, it’s a way a sharing my passion, meeting new people, sorting out my thoughts, and documenting my progress in health and life. I never thought I would meet so many wonderful people and find such pleasure in blogging, but I certainly do!
OMG, those cards are SO adorable! What a wonderful idea with having the kids’ definitions of love on the back. Seriously LOVE them!!!
Awww, your niece is so cute. You are going to make such a great mother someday Leah!

Kids are so smart and can teach us so much. They also don’t know how to lie for the most part which can be pretty refreshing.
You are obviously very loved and I can see why! Happy belated birthday, you are a beautiful person and your world around you seems to shine because of it!
Ah Leah, they are wonderful messages. So happy you had a great day! xxx
