Making Almond Butter – take 1
This video absolutely made my morning! It is a MUST see!
Talk about feeling inspired and a little bit happier after watching that. It is so kind how all of the students at his school support him.
It’s been a great weekend so far! We’ve been doing some painting, went out for dinner last night (where our waiter spilled my curry AND wine all over the table and me!), and I’ve been having a little fun in the kitchen.
I decided to finally make almond butter! I’ve been wanting to buy it in the shops but you guys know how expensive it can get for such a small jar!
I bought this bag of almonds at Asda for a mere £1.70.
Threw them in the food processor:
And let the magic happen (don’t forget to scrape down the sides).
I had the best green smoothie ever while the processor was running.
I think the key ingredient was some melon that I added. It gave it such a sweet and refreshing taste!!! Plus I used this Rice dream as well. Have you ever tried it?
Eventually, this was born.
Now… it’s not as smooth as I prefer, but I think with a little more processer action it would be. I was being impatient.
Check out Heather’s post if you want to see what it looks like smooth!
It’s tucked away in its new home.
For more than half the price you can’t go wrong!
Of course breakfast this morning had to include a little AB on whole wheat toast. With a side of fruit.
It may not be the smoothest, but it tastes amazing!
Take 2 will involve a much more creamy nut butter.
Well, it’s sunny out so i’m taking my run outside today!
Enjoy your Sunday.

I wish my mom would let me make my own almond butter – I can only imagine how fresh it taste!
Holy yum!! And hey, I love crunchy-style, so I LIKE that it’s not super smooth
Leah! That video is amazing. I have lots of high functioning autistic kids so that really makes me feel happy! They are all sooo talented and smart!
Did you soak the almonds before making it? I’v only made it once. I turned it into coco carob almond butter – it was choclatey
Mmm, your almond butter looks VERY good to me!! I have yet to actually make it myself but I really should. I just end up never buying it because of the price … peanut butter is so much cheaper! (But I think I prefer the taste of almond).
Hope your weekend has been wonderful! : )
What kind of food processor do you have? I’m thinking of asking for one for Christmas!
It’s by Kenwood… nothing super expensive but it does the trick!

I have GOT to try making my own almond butter sometime! I have a pretty cheap food processor and I actually have to hold down the “chop” and “grind” buttons to make it work, so you can bet that I tend to get pretty impatient myself!
xxoo

Oh man, this makes me miss my kitchen utensils! I just bought a knife today. And a pan.
I REALLY need a food processor – I keep trying to make things in the blender that were NOT meant for it – kind of funny really.
Congrats on your almond butter success
So cool. I think I need to do this eheh I didn’t know it was that easy, actually.
I love chunky nut butter over smooth and that looks phenomenal! Daydreaming about big chunky spoonfuls on banana!
YAY for green smoothies! That video was awesome. Thanks for posting!!!
Cheers,
Kristen
Sometime the thicker chunky almond butter is better.
Love Rice Dream milk, but not as much as I love Rice Dream ice-cream. Hope you enjoyed your sunshine, and thanks for the shout-out!
I’m so jealous of your prices…. not sure what that bag of almonds would translate into US dollars, but it would have cost at least $5 here in Chicago… probably about $8 if they were raw almonds!
I’m sure you will have so much fun experimenting with various flavors…. cinnamon almond butter sounds devine!
I’m with ya all the way on homemade almond butter. So much affordable thane a $10.00 jar!
I prefer almond butter chunky like that – looks great! Mmm, glad to see you drink Green Monsters too
Love ‘em!
Did you add anything while you were mixing? I haven’t busted out our food processor yet and almond butter sounds like a fun experiment to try.
I love making my own nut butters! Cashew is next on my list…
