30 day yoga challenge! Are you in?

2009 October 23

Guess what??? I HAVE ONE WEEK OFF!!

Yippie!  This is one brilliant thing about working in a school in the UK.  The holidays are great.  Granted we have to work a little bit longer through the summer (until around the 22nd of July) but it’s not as hot, and we have more holidays spread throughout the year.  So happy!  I do have some work to do next week, but I can slowly work on it through the week and at least I won’t have to be up at 6 daily!  Steve also took three days off next week so he’s hoping to get our guttering on our house finished and were planning a day trip somewhere!  Maybe London, we’ll see!

Thanks to everyone for the great conversation on what your diets are like.  I find it interesting to find out stuff like that from people who read because I think even though our main goal is the same: good health- there are many different ways that people live to achieve this.  I loved reading each and every response so thank you for replying!

My laptop is still broken :(   Steve’s brother is going to have a look at it on Sunday but it seems like it is not fixable.  He thinks that he might be able to recover the files that are on it but as far as being able to use it again, it’s likely a no- go.  I don’t really care what happens to it, but I REALLY want the photos off of it.  I’ll be so upset if I lose the pics from the last few years.  That’ll teach me for not backing things up eh?  I have our weddings pics on disk of course but many of the pics from earlier in our relationship and trips that I have taken (Venice, Paris, places around England) will be lost. So, keep your fingers crossed for me!!

30 DAY YOGA CHALLENGE

While on twitter last night I asked if anyone would be interested in doing a 30 day yoga challenge with me.  What do you think?  I had a few people reply who said they would be interested and i’d love to open it up here on the blog.  I’m thinking of starting it November 1st, for 30 days… and we will have a  separate page here on the blog to discuss how its going throughout the month!  I know for me, as the weather gets cooler and the nights start to get darker earlier I need to take a bit of me time to relax and refresh my mind, not to mention to get a good stretch!  You could do it in the morning before you get ready for your day or at night to wind down, or anytime really!

What I was thinking is that if we start for only 10 minutes per day for the first week in November and then possibly extend the time to 15 or 20 minutes for the 2nd and 3rd week in Nov and then who knows, by the 4th week we all might be feeling so good that we can do more than that!  Obviously you are welcome to do more at any time of the month but we’ll start with at least 10 minutes!

This challenge would be open to all people, of all ages, regardless of current activity level.  If you’ve never done yoga before, it’s the perfect time to start – maybe you’ll just start with basic stretching and then try some beginner poses and work your way up.  It is also for those people who have been practicing yoga for quite some time, and it’d be great to have you along because i’m sure your tips to all of us would be much appreciated!!  You do not have to have a blog to take part in the challenge.  It is open to anyone!

Tina did a challenge like this one a while back and I know it had great success!  I think its time for another one!

If you think you’d even be slightly interested in doing a 30 day yoga challenge please leave a reply in the comment section!  Don’t think yoga is for you?  Leave me a reply telling me why!  I’d love to hear all thoughts good or bad.

 Can’t wait!

I love yoga, but I find a million excuses to not do it. Maybe I would be down for a morning sun salutation session and a quick night time wind down session. I’ll say maybe!

I’ll join you…I never seem to find time to do yoga. I work out daily, but every time I say I’m going to do yoga after my run, I find other things to do. I love how I feel after I do yoga. All nice and stretched out!

I’d be with you if yoga didn’t aggravate my back so badly. Make it Pilates and I’m all over it. :)

    Hi Leah -

I just finished (Tuesday) with a one University credit yoga class & to be honest, I didn’t love it! I guess I just never let myself relax enough or something!

I think I would like to try vinyasa though maybe..

Yep I’m in! Was just thinking the other day how I’d like to commit to yoga more regularly. At the moment I do one Body Balance class a week and that’s it (for yoga). Will you be able to link us to some good online resources?

Can I do a 7 day challenge? I’m headed to Italy on the 8th and it may be a bit of a challenge! Although maybe I could try in my hotel room? Hmm..

I’ve been doing yoga classes pretty consistently every week (maybe 2-3 classes a week) but I’m really bad about doing any yoga at home in between my classes. I’d love to do this challenge in order to do even just 10 minutes of yoga on my days off from studio classes!

    i’m in for yoga!

I’m in too – I need something to motivate me to get back into working out and hopefully 10 minutes a day won’t seem too scary and then I’ll miraculously become a gym bunny once I’ve started and won’t be able to stop haha

I am definitely in. I have tried to do this myself before and it didn’t work out but I think if I had some motivation I’d be on board!
