Maternity Leave
As of Friday last week, this mama started maternity leave. Working full time with the kids at school and then coming home to my own was getting exhausting! But, now my full focus can be on spending as much time as I can with my first born until her little brother or sister comes along. She’s napping at the moment, and while some people run while their toddler is napping, I blog! I’m hoping it’s something I can keep up throughout my mat leave! Speaking of running, I cannot wait to start again and already have my eyes on two races for next year. I don’t plan on running until after Christmas (unless I feel great before hand) so looking into running events has been fun. I actually got an email the other day about signing up for the Paris marathon next April. Tempting, but I don’t think I’ll even be CLOSE to that kind of shape!! Maybe in 2014!
So here we are, nearly 39 weeks pregnant.
We’ll call it 38.5 for these pics.
I look like I have a big ol’ basketball in there!
My mom guesses boy since i’m all mainly out front. The baby weight has been mainly in my bump and slightly spread to other parts of my body. Those that will go un-mentioned (mostly starting with a B).. my dad reads my blog and doesn’t really need to know. But, there is 21 pounds of baby, water, fat, etc. I gained 25 with Sophie, so i’m pretty much on track for that.. likely a bit less since i’m so close. I don’t really care, all I know is that this baby is healthy and I cannot WAIT to meet him or her (sorry – I know I repeat that a lot lately).
So, this weekend was fun. Sophie had dance on Saturday morning and it was a princess theme kind of day.
She was super excited to get to dance in her outfit and had the best class ever (in terms of not needing me in there the whole time). She has gotten to know the women who run the class and the other little girls in the class. She cried for about 5 mins after I left her in there but then was fine. I’m really trying to take the approach that she doesn’t need me for everything, and actually she did even better with me out of the room. Usually if I am in there she will act up and run around manically. Saturday she did all of her heal/toes and did everything to a T. It was adorable!
We had a park visit afterward and then Sat night we went out for dinner, as possibly the last time as a family of 3. Love hanging out with these two!
Sunday morning brought pumpkin carving! Little miss was quite excited.
But refused to touch the actual ‘guts’ of the pumpkin..
Until we got her a big spoon:
Later on once we lit them she was pretty proud of the outcome.
…and even later as it got darker!
Cute story: when we lit them she started singing happy birthday. Then she wanted to blow the candles out and once that was finished she said ok cake now please! haha!

We are no experts, but it was fun!
This week I have a coffee date with a friend, some organising to do, dinner out with the girls, gymnastics to attend (for Sophie, not me) and some baking!
On that note, once Sophie gets up we have brownies to bake!
See you later!

great carvings!!!!!!
Thanks!
Looking fantastic! I’m so impressed that you’re waiting to find out boy versus girl. I can’t imagine being that patient haha
I’ve heard the Paris marathon is fun, I’m jealous!
We haven’t carved our pumpkins yet, I keep hoping I’ll just have this baby already and that can be my excuse for not dealing with that mess.
Haha you might be lucky and it could happen!!
I really have no idea how we’ve done it either but the closer we get the more excited i get to find out…it is pretty cool
What a lovely post! I’m so excited for you to have your new baby. Can’t wait to meet him/her. Perhaps we can go for a short run together when you come to Canada this Winter
Maybe!! I’d really like to start 6 wks post baby so that takes me to mid dec earliest. Regardless tho i can’t wait to catch up with you over the holidays!!
